When your child is struggling in school and you know something isn't right...
it is so overwhelming.
Not knowing the questions to ask or what you can do for your child is completely discouraging.
There are times when you feel at a total loss and you just need someone to help get you back on the path, moving forward.
I GET IT. I've been there too.
I work with families who are confused, overwhelmed, and discouraged at any step of the process. I will come alongside you during this journey -providing knowledge and experience so that you can take a deep breath knowing someone will be there looking out for the best interest of your child and your family.
I earned my B.S. degree in psychology from UCLA ( go Bruins!). I then moved to beautiful San Luis Obispo, CA and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2003 with my M.S. in Psychology.
For me, my passion for special education advocacy has been informed by my own experience. ( I bet you might have suspected that!)
My professional life and personal passion collided when I spent almost four years working at a Pediatric Medical Clinic as part of their Behavioral Health Team. It became clear right away that the area of Special Education is something that many people ( doctors and educators included) know very little about.
I spent countless hours with families - educating them on the processes, supporting them through the overwhelming and confusing timelines, costly evaluations, and school meetings.
Advocating my heart out for each and every one of them.
Now I am providing this service to you.
I am a registered LPC Intern in the state of Oregon and have attended several trainings hosted by various organizations on Special Education process and laws.

Advocacy is about accessing resources and understanding how systems work. In this case, it is the special education system. It can encompass education, resource connection, and support for your child and yourself through the process of evaluation, and development of an IEP or 504 plan. It can also be working with you and your child to develop self-advocacy skills and technology proficiency.
